Check out our conference preview for all the Big 10 action this weekend.
Florida State at Louisville
7 p.m., ESPN (Friday)
Both teams are in desperation mode as they try to avoid the season going into a complete tailspin. Florida State is coming in with momentum after pounding Virginia, although it’s been proven you can’t trust the Noles on a week-to-week basis under Mike Norvell. Louisville looked like an ACC contender after a close loss to Ole Miss and a victory over SMU, but have dropped their last two to Wake Forest and NC State. The loser of this one will have some serious questions of how things went so wrong.
Prediction: Louisville-31, Florida State-27
Arizona at West Virginia
Noon, TNT
This under-the-radar game could end up being the most entertaining one of the day. They both have high-powered offenses, and Arizona quarterback Noah Fafita is always worth the watch. This should be a fun shootout that could come down to the last possession.
Prediction: Arizona-42, West Virginia-37
(#1)Texas at Oklahoma
3:30 p.m., ABC
I don’t have high hopes this game will be as entertaining as most years. Oklahoma’s offense is in a bad place, and may not even make a bowl a season after a trip to the playoffs. The Sooners have not scored a touchdown in the past two games against the Horns, and that streak may be extended against a stout Texas defense. There have been some highly unlikely outcomes in this series over the years, so it’s always worth checking out.
Texas-20, Oklahoma-6
North Dakota State at UNLV
7 p.m., CW
The Bison may have a shot at going unbeaten in their first season as an FBS program. They will face their biggest test thus far, heading to Vegas to take on Dan Mullen’s boys. This should be an entertaining game between two schools that you may not watch often.
Prediction: North Dakota State-24, UNLV-21
(#10)LSU at Kentucky
7 p.m., ESPN
Kentucky has been better than expected under first-year head coach Will Stein. The Wildcats had a history of ruining Lane Kiffin’s playoff hopes at Ole Miss – can they continue that trend with LSU?
Prediction: LSU-31, Kentucky-21
(#2)Georgia at (#6)Alabama
7:30 p.m., ABC
This game has been in doubt all week due to the emergence of Hurricane Isaisis, but it looks like the worst of it will pass before kickoff. Georgia has not been tested yet this season, but they are loaded with talent all over the field and look like one of Kirby Smart’s national championship winning teams. The Tide have upped their game, and seem to be by far the best team under Kalen DeBoer. Alabama quarterback Keelon Russell has been the breakout star of the first month of the season, and could rise to the top of the Heisman list by leading his team past the ‘Dawgs.
Prediction: Alabama-27, Georgia-24
