Saturday night’s Georgia Bulldogs vs Alabama Crimson Tide clash is easily the best game on the Week 6 college football schedule. Not only is it a potential early preview of the SEC Championship Game, but it may determine who is the top-ranked team in the country next week.
Let’s dive into our Georgia vs Alabama predictions for Saturday.
Ryan Coleman-Williams Extends TD Streak
It appears that Ryan Coleman-Williams may have turned a corner. After sitting near the top of the Football Bowl Subdivision in drops last season, the junior wideout still had issues holding onto the football early in the season. The former freshman All-American just couldn’t seem to get over the mental hurdle, and then, per ESPN, he went back to last year’s Georgia versus Alabama game and found something to correct. Coleman-Williams now has 4 touchdowns in the last three games, averaging 18.5 yards per reception in that span. While a 100-yard performance for Coleman-Williams against this Georgia secondary is unlikely, we do think he’ll make it four consecutive games with a score.
Keelon Russell Rushes for 50+ Yards, Throws INT
This is the true showcase opportunity for Keelon Russell. In his first season as the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback, the sophomore has shown the tools that could eventually make him the first overall pick in the 2028 NFL Draft. However, as we saw against Kentucky, this is still a sophomore signal-caller who can make a few mistakes. Georgia’s front seven is going to pressure him, with one of those turning into an interception. However, Russell’s legs will also prove massive in this one. Even with two sacks taken, he’ll rush for 50-plus yards with several big runs on third down to sustain drives. It will be the kind of performance that shows why he could develop into becoming the best quarterback in college football.
Gunner Stockton Throws for 240+ Yards
Hurricane Isaias has now moved to a Category 3, making the weather for Georgia vs Alabama a major storyline for Saturday. As of recent reporting, however, it appears that rain and wind won’t be nearly as much of a factor as first anticipated. That’s great news for this Bulldogs’ passing game. Gunner Stockton is adept at hitting big plays, completing 7-of-18 attempts for 285 yards and 2 touchdowns when throwing 20-plus yards downfield this season. Alabama, meanwhile, has allowed 18 explosive plays through the air. We think Stockton showcases that arm strength on Saturday night in Tuscaloosa, hitting Talyn Taylor and Craig Dandridge for big games to help him eclipse 230 net passing yards on the day.
Alabama Crimson Tide 28, Georgia Bulldogs 27
This game truly could go either way and on a neutral field, we’d probably be inclined to pick Georgia. However, we did see Kalen DeBoer’s ability last season to get Alabama out to an early lead and now he has a dual-threat quarterback who lifts the ceiling of this offense higher than at any prior point in his tenure. That matters, especially once the crowd at Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium gets going if the team has an early lead. We’ll predict that the Crimson Tide lead 28-24 late into the fourth quarter and Georgia settles for a field goal, betting on its defense to get a stop to give Stockton a chance for the game-winning drive. However, Russell makes one big play on third down to evade pressure and make a critical pass for the third-down conversion. That allows the Crimson Tide to run out the rest of the clock improve to 5-0 and take the No. 1 spot in the top-25 rankings.
