Mother Nature's impact on Saturday's slate of college football games is now stretching to Utah.
In preparation for inclement weather from Tropical Storm Rachel, kickoff between No. 12 Utah and Kansas has moved up to 8 p.m. ET (6 p.m. MT local) on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. Kickoff had originally been scheduled for 10:15 p.m. ET.
"Due to inclement weather forecasted for the area, Saturday’s Kansas-Utah football game in Salt Lake City has been moved up to 6 p.m. MT. The move from 8:15 p.m. MT to 6 p.m. MT was based off forecast models and was agreed upon by both programs," the Big 12 said in a statement.
Due to the change in kickoff, the Big 12 noted that the game will be streamed live in its entirety on the ESPN app with a specific ESPN TV channel listing to come.
The Utes have stormed out to a 4-0 start under first-year coach Morgan Scalley. Coming off its bye week, Utah was led by quarterback Devon Dampier, who ranked first in the Big 12 in passing efficiency (172.2), and running back Wayshawn Parker, who ranked third in the conference with 6.56 yards per carry. Parker totaled 239 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns against Iowa State in Week 4.
Utah's defense has been one of the nation's best units this season, as it ranks third in the country in scoring defense, allowing just 10.25 points through the first six weeks.
Kansas is 2-2 on the season and is coming off a 55-0 win over Middle Tennessee last week.
