Last season, Indiana football completed one of the most remarkable (and remarkably quick) turnarounds in American sports history, as a program long synonymous with futility went 16-0 and won the national championship just two years after finishing 3-9.
Now, as they continue their quest for a second-consecutive title, the Hoosiers face what might be their most difficult task yet.

At 5-0 and No. 5 in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll, Indiana will hit the road to take on an undefeated Nebraska team in a Week 6 matchup on Saturday, Oct. 10 at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, Nebraska.
Despite some notable losses, including 2025 Heisman Trophy winner and No. 1 overall NFL draft pick Fernando Mendoza, coach Curt Cignetti's team has largely picked up where it left off last season, winning its first five games by an average of 33.4 points. Mendoza's replacement at quarterback, TCU transfer Josh Hoover, has been sharp, completing 71% of his passes for 1,101 yards, 15 touchdowns and no interceptions, while the Hoosiers' two-headed monster at running back of Turbo Richard and Lee Beebe Jr. have combined for 1,107 yards and nine touchdowns. Defensively, Indiana has held opponents to 10.8 points per game, the fifth-best mark of 138 FBS teams.
It will aim to continue that early run of dominance against Nebraska, which is off to its first 5-0 start since 2016. In their fourth season under coach Matt Rhule, the Cornhuskers have been largely untested, winning each of their first five games by at least 18 points. Anthony Colandrea has been a dynamic replacement at quarterback for Dylan Raiola, who is now at Oregon. The UNLV transfer, who began his career at Virginia, has accounted for 1,391 total yards and 15 touchdowns this season.
Indiana won the last meeting between the programs, 56-7, on Oct. 19, 2024 in Bloomington, Indiana in what was a matchup of top-25 teams.
