Oct. 10—***
Alabama is a tiny favorite at home Saturday night against No. 2 Georgia. If the Crimson Tide beat their biggest non-Auburn rival, the team will streak up the polls.
If Georgia wins, it will climb on my ballot from its current No. 6. That might explain why some of the Bulldogs faithful aren't too pleased with my voting.
The only other Top 25 matchup this weekend should be a doozy: No. 13 Oregon hosts No. 21 UCLA on Saturday afternoon.
The Bruins seem to be a couple years ahead of schedule under Bob Chesney, who is in his first season. UCLA later hosts Illinois at the Rose Bowl in mid-November.
A couple other games with potential Top 25 impact Saturday include No. 10 LSU at just-outside-the-rankings Kentucky. Fair to say most college football fans outside Baton Rouge are rooting for the Wildcats.
If Kentucky wins, I promise to put it on my ballot.
I'd also suggest you stay up late for No. 23 Boise State at Fresno State. Both teams are 4-1 and the Broncos' lone loss was a close game against Oregon. Win at Fresno, no easy trick, and my guess is Boise makes the College Football Playoff.
