The Oklahoma Sooners had a very crowded injury report this week, and Brent Venables' team will be missing a number of key players for Saturday's Red River Rivalry matchup against the Texas Longhorns. However, one key player's status is still technically up in the air in Dallas.
Both defensive back Eli Bowen and tight end Jack Van Dorselaer were listed as game-time decisions in the Cotton Bowl on the final SEC availability report of the week, though it doesn't look like either player is trending to play. The Sooners will for sure be without a total of at least eight players against the 'Horns. Linebacker Taylor Heim, defensive back Jacobe Johnson, running back Xavier Robinson, wide receiver Trell Harris, tight end Trynae Washington, and offensive linemen Michael Fasusi, Eddy Pierre-Louis, and Fred Hinton are all listed as out.
However, the Sooners did get some good news over the course of the week. Linebackers Owen Heinecke and Cole Sullivan, defensive back Michael Boganowski, and wide receiver Jer'Michael Carter were all listed on the report earlier this week, but all have been cleared to play on Saturday.
Cornerback is a position to watch for the Sooners in this game. If Bowen doesn't play, OU would be down its No. 1 and No. 3 cornerbacks for Red River. Alongside starter Courtland Guillory, it may be a busy day for unproven names like Trystan Haynes and Dakoda Fields.
The absences of Fasusi and Pierre-Louis will also be tough to overcome, with the remaining rotation on the offensive line for OU looking like Ryan Fodje, Noah Best, Jake Maikkula, Heath Ozaeta, and E'Marion Harris as the likely starters, with Peyton Joseph, Deacon Schmitt, and Caleb Nitta as the reserves to watch
For Texas, defensive lineman Justus Terry is a game-time decision, while Steve Sarkisian's team will be without defensive lineman Zion Williams, wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, and offensive lineman Jordan Coleman. Needless to say, the Longhorns are the healthier team heading into this game.
Kickoff between Oklahoma and Texas is at 2:30 p.m. in Dallas.
