Texas edge rusher Colin Simmons is confident Texas beat itself on Saturday.
The No. 1 Longhorns lost 27-24 to unranked Oklahoma on a 48-yard field goal by Tate Sandell as time expired. That field goal came after Arch Manning was intercepted for the second time in the fourth quarter with 19 seconds to go.
After the game, Simmons was asked if he felt the Longhorns' mistakes were what cost the team the game. He was succinct.
"We definitely beat ourselves," Simmons said. "Only Texas can beat Texas."

While Oklahoma beat Texas in the literal sense, you don't have to squint too hard to see the truth in Simmons' sentiment. Manning's first interception in the fourth quarter was returned for a touchdown by Peyton Bowen. The first pick 6 of Manning's career gave OU a 24-17 lead.
The Sooners also got a touchdown on a blocked punt that Dakoda Fields recovered in the end zone. Special teams and defensive TDs don't happen all that often. And when both happen in the same game, it's nearly impossible to lose.
Texas will also have plenty of opportunity to show how it can only be beaten by its mistakes in the coming weeks. After facing Florida in Week 7 — the Gators will assuredly drop out of the AP Top 25 after losing to South Carolina on Saturday — Texas plays No. 9 Ole Miss, No. 17 Mississippi State, No. 14 Missouri and No. 10 LSU across four consecutive weeks.
