Former Georgia football coach Mark Richt is hitting the bowling lanes for the fourth annual Chick-Fil-A Dawg Bowl.
Last year, the third annual event raised $598,800.
The tournament will be held at Showtime Bowl, located at 555 Macon Highway in Athens, on Wednesday, Oct. 21. Georgia athletic director Josh Brooks and others will be there.
"Year one when (the Brooks family) came, I think they came in last place," Richt joked. "They're trying to improve on that."
The fundraiser will benefit three institutions this year between the Isakson Center for Neurological Disease Research at UGA, Mercy Health Center and the Food Bank of Northeast Georgia.
Proceeds will go toward treatment and cure research for Parkinson's and Crohn's diseases, to support uninsured people with health services in the Athens-area and to feeding the less fortunate.
Richt was diagnosed in 2021 with Parkinson's Disease while his eldest granddaughter, Jadyn, was diagnosed with Crohn's as an infant in 2015.
The 2026 Chick-Fil-A Dawg Bowl is titled "Help Take a Bite out of Parkinson's and Crohn's." Donations can be made at https://give.uga.edu/funders/cvm-dawg-bowl-2026/.
