The White Out Game Hasn't Been Good to the Penn State Nittany Lions

Year after year, Penn State throws the white out game out against one of the biggest opponents on their schedule that year. Unfortunately for them, the WHite Out hasn't treated them well.
The last five times that they went with the White Out, they both set a new attendance record and lost the football game.
Saturday's game against USC set the record for attendance in Happy Valley. After the stadium renovations, they stuffed 114,419 people into the stadium, even amid rumors that it would lack some fans.
Up until kickoff, the get-in price for Saturday night's game was just over $60, compared to one year ago when they welcomed in the Oregon Ducks and the get-in price was north of $700. The environment was insane, but it didnt much matter. USC snatched the energy and environment on the very first drive of the game.
To Penn State's credit, they continued to battle, but it wasn't even close to enough as they came up empty.
Beaver Stadium has produced some record-breaking crowds over the last decade, but the results typically haven't worked in the Nittany Lions' favor.

Just one year ago, they put up the then-second-highest mark with 111,015 people in a game that ended up being the start of the Penn State slide. It was that game that Drew Allar threw an interception in double overtime to lose the football game, the first one of what turned into a six-game slide that cost James Franklin his job.
It was two other losses to the Ohio State Buckeyes, both in white-out environments, both in heartbreaking fashion. They had the Buckeyes twice and let both of those games slip away.
It has been an unfortunate house of horrors when the Nittany Lions make that stadium the center of attention in all of college football.
The biggest story here is that everytime that Penn State punches up in weight class, they get beat. This has been the Achilles ' heel of the Nittany Lions program that they are absolutely trying to overcome.
After three straight losses to start Big Ten play, I don't know if Penn State is any closer than they are to getting over that hump. For now, the only hump that they need to clear is getting their first win. It won't be any more whiteouts; it won't be any more sellouts; it will be a team trying to prove to themselves and the fanbase that they can compete. More so, proving to the fanbase that they didn't make a mistake in firing their last coach and hiring a new one.
