Welcome to Tuesday, Bulldog fans! We’re halfway through the 2026 regular season, and halfway through the State Championship… of Alabama. Just one more contest against a bunch of toilet paper loving and safety scisscor wielding barners.
But let’s take a little closer look at the Bulldog squad, and grade the position groups. Lucky for us, the Red & Black has conveniently done just that. I’ll agree with most of them, but sheeeesh…. it got ugly at the end there.
Key pieces to Georgia’s victory were the offensive and defensive line play in Tuscaloosa. And that’s not just me talking, that’s the SEC Conference. Because Dontrell Glover and Joseph Jonah-Ajoye were each awarded Offensive and Defensive Lineman of the Week, respectively. And well deserved. When your QB completes over 80% of his passes on the road in the SEC and your backup backs run for almost 200 yards, you’re doing good things when the ball snaps. Likewise, holding one of the most prolific offenses in the country to barely 50% passing, only 2 touchdowns, and around 30% less total offense than their average is pretty heady stuff.
In his Monday press conference, Head Coach Kirby Smart assured the asssembled media that the football team has turned the page on Alabama and is squarely focusing on the upcoming South’s Oldest Rivalry. I have a feeling his postgame casual conversations Saturday night with staff were a little more… expressive.
Speaking of expressive, how about those classy Alabama fans? The school is “in the process of gathering information”. And I hope that one Bammer who accosted Raylen Wilson is publicly named.
Yet on to Hate Week. Of course we only condone the metaphorical kind of hate, and no manifesting of violence or personal vitriol of any kind. Still, it’s Auburn. And I get mad whenever I see Aaron Murray mentioned, because I always then think of Nick Fairley. To say nothing of sprinklers.
We knew the game would be televised, and have known for a week that it would be the 3:30 pm ET timeslot. We now know it will be broadcast on the mothership, as well as streaming on the app.
The Tigers are 3-2 under first year skipper Alex Golesh. It seems that some of the Hugh Freeze era has lingered, as Auburn is due to be without the services of star linebacker Xavier Atkins, purported for discliplinary issues. An Auburn Tiger player not playing by the rules? Why I never.
I’m sure more savory nuggets will leak from Toomer’s Corner like so many oak leaves falling. Let us know what you’re hearing, and as always…
