Just when we thought that we had this college football thing figured out, the sport continues to surprise us.
Texas and Oregon were supposed to pocket significant wins in Week 6 that would boost their College Football Playoff position. Instead both the Longhorns and Ducks have their places in the projected 12-team field in serious jeopardy. The common theme for both has been inconsistent offense that needs a solution for things to turn around. For now, Texas stays and Oregon goes, but this could all change again.
Offense isn't an issue for Mississippi which joins the field in place the Ducks. The Rebels rolled to an impressive win against Vanderbilt, setting the stage for a game with Missouri that could prove decisive come December.. The Tigers have rolled to impressive home wins against Florida and Texas A&M and are just one the outside of the field.
UCLA remains for now after its defeat of Oregon, but the expected loss of Nico Iamaleava makes its hold tenuous.
One change that wasn't made this week was the team at No. 1. Georgia has led the projected field since the start of the season and its win against Alabama only strengthened its position.
