The Georgia football team is on a roll, after defeating Alabama in a recent road game. The Bulldogs were able to flip an Auburn football commitment after that SEC conference victory.
“BREAKING: Class of 2027 CB Nash Johnson III has Flipped his Commitment from Auburn to Georgia, he tells me for Rivals,” college football reporter Hayes Fawcett posted to X, formerly Twitter.
Johnson had been committed to Auburn since May, Fawcett reported. The cornerback is listed at 6 feet, and 180 pounds. Johnson had offers from several SEC schools including Alabama, Auburn and Ole Miss. Georgia Tech was also in the mix for his services.

Johnson is from the state of Georgia. Rivals lists him as a three-star player.
“1000% Committed, staying (home),” Johnson said to Rivals.
Georgia football looks as good as advertised in 2026
The Bulldogs are having a magical season so far in 2026. Georgia is in sole possession of first place in the SEC, after defeating the Crimson Tide. Georgia’s win at Alabama was the first time Bulldogs head coach Kirby Smarthad ever won in Tuscaloosa as head coach of Georgia.
“I didn’t come here to lose,” Smart said after the win, per the Associated Press.
The last time Georgia had won at Alabama was in 2007. That season, the Bulldogs were led by quarterback Matthew Stafford. That was also the first Alabama season where Nick Saban was the head coach.
Georgia football is clearly one of the best programs in the country right now. The Bulldogs have made the College Football Playoff pretty regularly under Smart’s leadership. The addition of Johnson gives Georgia another solid commitment in the Class of 2027.
Georgia is now 6-0 on the season, after defeating the Crimson Tide. The Bulldogs are also 4-0 in the SEC. Georgia is next in action against Auburn on Saturday.
Georgia is currently ranked no. 1 in the country, according to the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll.
