Around the SEC Turns the Tables

Welcome to another edition of Around the SEC, where everything is made up and the points don’t matter. That’s right, the points are like the excuses and refereeing complaints from Alabama fans.
Oh How the Turntables
From 2008-2020, the Alabama Crimson Tide football program was the undisputed top program in college football. They rarely lost games, and when they did, they generally prided themselves on never making excuses. Now, in the year 2026, in the words of Michael Scott, “oh how the turntables”. Alabama fans are still very mad online and making every type of excuse. The Twitter/X account of youth football coaching legend and public notary Three Year Letterman has quote-tweeted several of these instances and is reveling in this transformation of the Alabama fan base. Was it pass interference? Absolutely. It’s just that Tyler Simmons, Aaron Murray, Mark Richt, and everyone else associated with the Georgia football program doesn’t feel sorry for you.
More Trouble in Gainesville
The 2019 LSU Tigers, err, I mean, the 2026 Florida Gators may be without their starting quarterback this weekend for their game against Texas. Aaron Philo is dealing with a shoulder injury that may see him miss this weekend’s game. Luckily the Gator offense is rolling and coming off back-to-back blowout games (note: no specification on who was blown out. Hat tip to SEC Shorts).
Apologies on College Station
Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko has apologized for calling a large portion of his fanbase a “cesspool”. This is just incredible content. At this point you have to wonder if Elko is angling for one of those famous Aggie buyouts his predecessors are enjoying.
Hate Tennessee, Love Smokey
A New Jersey teenager has been arrested for vandalizing a statue of Smokey outside of Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. Now, Around the SEC is known to hate on Tennessee like Silky Johnson in the Playa Haters’ Ball, but Smokey is off limits. He is a mighty, mighty fine dog and far and away the best thing about the Tennessee football program. Better options would have been reminding Tennessee fans they haven’t won a title since 1998, that they really aren’t a football school, that their beloved offense has stalled out, or that they haven’t beat Georgia in a decade.
