Florida vs Texas Prediction: Who Will Rebound Faster?

Just a few weeks ago, Florida was coming off a 52-28 obliteration of a terrific Ole Miss team, and everything was wonderful.
The Gators appeared good enough in the first season under Jon Sumrall to be in the SEC and College Football Playoff mix, the offense was unstoppable, and then a funny thing happened.
The SEC figured it out. Missouri and South Carolina beat Florida by a combined score of 83-36, and now, with the schedule ahead, the 4-2 team might have to fight just to get to a bowl game.
Last week at this time, Texas was No. 1, it was about to play a punchless Oklahoma team, and then a funny thing happened. The Sooners came up with creative and clutch ways to pull off a 27-24 Red River Rivalry win.
The season is hardly over for the Longhorns, but now there’s little margin for error over a tough second half.
Florida vs Texas: Quick Hits
- It doesn’t get any easier for Florida after this, with a week off before dealing with Georgia, followed up by Oklahoma, and then a trip to Kentucky.
- Texas starts a run of three straight home games, getting Ole Miss next and Mississippi State to follow.
- How is this only the sixth game between these two? Texas is 3-1-1, with the 7-7 tie coming in the first meeting in 1924.

Why Florida Will Win
The defense isn’t getting fixed over the next few weeks, but that’s part of what a rebuild is all about. The Gators win when the offense rocks, and the yards and points allowed are simply the cost of doing business. However, there’s one key element to the Florida D that should show up huge.
The pass rush is outstanding.
The Gator defensive front averages close to three sacks and seven tackles for loss per game, and as good as Arch Manning is – seriously, he’s really good, despite the popular opinions at the moment after the OU loss – he’s still not amazing when he’s getting rushed.
The Texas offensive line has been better than last year for the ground game, but the pass protection has been a problem.
Why Texas Will Win
The Texas defense is going to stuff the Florida offense cold.
Missouri and South Carolina never let Gator star Jadan Baugh and the running game breathe. The Gamecocks and Tigers combined for 18 tackles for loss against the Florida attack, and both allowed fewer than 400 yards of total offense.
For all the problems in the meltdown against Oklahoma, the Texas defense was great. It allowed only 238 yards of Sooner offense, and for the fourth game in a row – including against Ohio State and Tennessee – the defense allowed fewer than 100 rushing yards.
Florida vs Texas Prediction, Betting Lines
It turned out to be one of the most important games of the 2025 season.
Florida finished the year 4-8, but one of those wins was a 29-21 thriller over Texas. The Longhorns lost on the road to both Ohio State and Georgia – no shame there against two teams that finished with 12 wins – but that loss to the Gators kept them out of the College Football Playoff.
Yeah, Texas lost to Oklahoma, but weird things happen in the Red River Rivalry. Against Florida, the offense will keep it conservative, but Arch will connect on a few deep shots to push ahead. The defense will take care of the rest.
Texas 34, Florida 17
