SEC quarterback power rankings: Which rank top-10 entering Week 7?

Ole Miss quarterback Trinidad Chambliss remains the top SEC quarterback through six weeks, but two new gunslingers have joined the power rankings for the first time this season.

The competition among the league's quarterbacks in 2026 has been incredible so far, but some left much to be desired in a weekend full of college football upsets. Texas quarterback Arch Manning tumbled completely out of our power rankings after throwing two interceptions against Oklahoma, one of which put the Sooners in prime field position to set up the game-winning field goal.

Meanwhile, South Carolina quarterback LaNorris Sellers and Oklahoma's John Mateer made a splash with impressive performances in their respective Week 6 upset wins.

Here is how the SEC quarterback power rankings shake up entering Week 7:

1. Trinidad Chambliss (Ole Miss)

2026 stats:70.1% COMP | 1,435 YDS | 11 TD | 4 INT | 155.65 QBR | 32 CAR | 113 YDS | 5 TD

Tale of the tape: Bye week blues? Never heard of them. That was the mindset Chambliss and the Ole Miss Rebels displayed in their 52-17 thrashing of Vanderbilt in Week 6. Chambliss is maintaining his reputation as the wizard of the SEC, making magical things happen through the air and on the ground. He ranks No. 11 in the FBS and No. 2 in the conference, averaging 287.0 passing yards per game.

2. Keelon Russell (Alabama)

2026 stats:67.9% COMP | 1,599 YDS | 12 TD | 2 INT | 172.78 QBR | 46 CAR | 225 YDS | 4 TD

Tale of the tape: Despite the heartbreaking loss to the now-ranked No. 1 team in college football, the Alabama sophomore made some unbelievable plays. Russell is a Heisman-contending quarterback in every sense of the word, posting five outings with more than 220 yards of total offense. He boasts two 300-yard passing performances, including a career-high 365 yards against South Carolina in Week 4. Something tells me this won't be the last time Russell and the Tide square off against Kirby Smart's Bulldogs.

3. Gunner Stockton (Georgia)

2026 stats:76.6% COMP | 1,298 YDS | 14 TD | 2 INT | 198.57 QBR | 26 CAR | 134 YDS | 1 TD

Tale of the tape: The field general marched into Bryant-Denny Stadium and steered the Georgia Bulldogs to the top of the SEC. Stockton is one of the most efficient quarterbacks in college football, ranking No. 3 with a 198.57 quarterback rating. The senior gunslinger has flown under the radar through the first six weeks of the 2026 season, but Stockton deserves all of the accolades coming his way for the job he is doing in Athens.

4. Kamario Taylor (Mississippi State)

2026 stats:66.2% COMP | 1,450 YDS | 17 TD | 4 INT | 176.56 QBR | 43 CAR | 159 YDS | 1 TD

Tale of the tape: K1 was on a tear entering State's home contest against Alabama in Week 5, but the Crimson Tide's physical defense smacked him with a reality check. Still, if 258 passing yards and three touchdowns are a down performance, I think the Bulldogs will take that, as he continues to improve each week. However, reports are running rampant about Taylor's health as MSU faces a massive road test against No. 22 LSU on Saturday. His status could hurt the Bulldogs' success moving forward.

5. Austin Simmons (Missouri)

2026 stats:64.8% COMP | 1,434 YDS | 14 TD | 1 INT | 164.64 QBR | 17 CAR | 26 YDS

Tale of the tape: For a guy who is relatively new to the starting role, Simmons has been nothing short of spectacular for Mizzou this season. Ranking top five in total passing yards and touchdowns, and tied at No. 1 with just one interception, the senior from Miami, Florida, has led back-to-back conference wins and will look to lead his team to a third over ninth-ranked Ole Miss in Week 7.

6. Kenny Minchey (Kentucky)

Kentucky’s Kenny Minchey runs in the 2 point conversion to win the game against LSU at Kroger Field on Oct. 10, 2026.

2026 stats:67.4% COMP | 1,394 YDS | 11 TD | 1 INT | 152.47 QBR | 32 CAR | 11 YDS | 1 TD

Tale of the tape: Have yourself a weekend, Minchey. The Notre Dame transfer scored the game-winning two-point conversion in overtime for the second week in a row, adding to his 246-yard passing performance against one of the SEC's most elite defenses. Minchey has been precise and accurate, tied for No. 1 in the league with just one interception this season. He will face another tough task in Week 7, matched up against the conference's top pass defense.

7. LaNorris Sellers (South Carolina)

2026 stats:61.5% COMP | 1,338 YDS | 12 TD | 4 INT | 138.50 QBR | 67 CAR | 411 YDS | 2 TD

Tale of the tape: South Carolina's gunslinger makes his first appearance back in the quarterback power rankings after leading the Gamecocks to a dominant 38-19 win over No. 16 Florida in the Swamp. Sellers threw for 279 yards and a season-high four touchdowns, while also rushing for 20 yards and one score on the ground. If he can maintain this momentum and keep playing like the Sellers of old, South Carolina has a shot in all its remaining contests.

8. Aaron Philo (Florida)

2026 stats:70.5% COMP | 1,341 YDS | 9 TD | 3 INT | 161.97 QBR | 44 CAR | 104 YDS | 3 TD

Tale of the tape: There's no sugarcoating Florida's ugly performances the last two weeks, but the quarterback play has been fairly consistent. Philo threw for 227 yards, one touchdown and an interception in the 19-point loss to the Gamecocks, displaying his ability to throw on the run and make plays happen outside the pocket. Still, the Georgia Tech transfer and the Gators' offense have a long way to go after back-to-back abysmal outings.

9. Sam Leavitt (LSU)

Oct 10, 2026; Lexington, Kentucky, USA; LSU Tigers quarterback Sam Leavitt (10) scrambles against the Kentucky Wildcats during the third quarter at Kroger Field. Mandatory Credit: Jordan Prather-Imagn Images

2026 stats:67.6% COMP | 1,496 YDS | 10 TD | 8 INT | 150.08 QBR | 60 CAR | 259 YDS | 7 TD

Tale of the tape: Leavitt's inconsistency in crucial moments is preventing him from becoming one of the league's top signal-callers. The Arizona State transfer leads the SEC with eight interceptions this season, throwing a pick in each of LSU's six contests so far. Leavitt's ability to make magic happen with his feet is arguably the most underrated aspect of his game, as he leads the SEC's quarterbacks with seven rushing touchdowns. If he can improve his accuracy and stop trying to make plays happen that are not there, Leavitt has all the tools to be one of the top players in the nation.

10. John Mateer (Oklahoma)

2026 stats: 66.7% COMP | 1,038 YDS | 8 TD | 4 INT | 144.89 QBR | 53 CAR | 70 YDS

Tale of the tape: He is back, for now. While it was not the most statistically impressive performance, Mateer outperformed Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns, for one of the biggest upsets in college football this year. There were flashes throughout the Red River Shootout of the old Mateer, as he displayed his knack for shaking off would-be tacklers and finding ways to make plays happen out of thin air. Mateer and the Sooners host the red-hot Kentucky Wildcats in Week 7, which will unveil more about what this team can accomplish in 2026.
