Mississippi State returns from its Week 6 bye with a trip to Baton Rouge to face LSU, looking to secure its second top-25 win in just a few weeks.
Whether the Bulldogs will have starting quarterback Kamario Taylor under center remains uncertain.
Taylor was listed on Mississippi State's initial SEC availability report Wednesday as questionable for Saturday's showdown against the 21st-ranked Tigers as he continues to deal with an undisclosed lower-leg injury.
The 6-foot-4 quarterback has been one of the breakout players in the SEC through the first six weeks of the season, as he is tied for the third-most touchdown passes in the country (17) and leads the SEC with 290.0 passing yards per game. The hot start for Taylor took a bit of a halt in Week 5 vs. Alabama, as he completed a season-low 55.9% of his passes for 258 yards and three touchdowns while taking five sacks and throwing for two interceptions.
Mississippi State and LSU are set for a noon ET kickoff at Tiger Stadium in Baton Rouge on Saturday, Oct. 17.

Kamario Taylor injury report
Taylor was listed as questionable on Mississippi State's initial SEC player availability report on Wednesday for Saturday's game vs. LSU.
Mississippi State coach Jeff Lebby offered little clarity on the Bulldogs' quarterback situation Monday, keeping details brief when asked about the position ahead of this week's game against LSU.
"Right now, the focus is getting (Taylor) ready to play and then having the ability to continue to create the depth in the room," Lebby said on Monday. "Billy (Puckett) and AJ (Swann) obviously are the two guys that have been competing since Day 1 in fall camp and really last spring. So, those guys obviously have the ability to get work if (Taylor) wasn't ready to roll."
The first-year starting quarterback exited the Bulldogs' Week 5 game vs. Alabama in the fourth quarter with an apparent injury. He was seen on the ESPN broadcast first walking into the locker room with members of Mississippi State's medical staff.
As noted by the Clarion Ledger — part of the USA TODAY Network — Taylor was seen wearing a boot on his right ankle for the remainder of the frame once he returned to the sidelines. Lebby noted in his postgame news conference after the 56-23 loss to Alabama that Taylor had been dealing with a prior injury heading into the game.
What injury does Kamario Taylor have?
Taylor is dealing with an undisclosed lower-body injury.
