With the Oregon football team losing to the UCLA football program last Saturday, 17-15, the team is looking to bounce back against the University of Nebraska, though the quarterback position is in flux. While it will be a reunion for Oregon football quarterback Dylan Raiola taking on his former school in Nebraska, this college football insider makes a point that it probably won’t be him starting on Saturday.
According to Justin Hopkins at On3 Sports, the quarterback that “has the leg up” is Brock Thomas, though this is all dependent on whether Dante Moore can come back from a concussion.
“Based on what I’ve heard, Brock Thomas has the leg up,” Hopkins wrote. “My bet, today, is that he will be the guy running out with the offense first Saturday night. That’s because of what he brings to the table for the offense, the consistency, and because of what he was able to do late in the game Saturday night vs. UCLA.”

Oregon football’s Dylan Raiola was rough in loss to USC
As Moore was taken out of the Sept. 26 41-27 win over the USC Trojans with a concussion, Raiola took over and finished off the win, but it was a frustrating effort in the aforementioned loss to UCLA. In that contest, Raiola threw for 43 yards and two picks before being taken out for Thomas, who recorded 156 yards and a touchdown while completing 11 of his 15 pass attempts.
While there would be a lot of attention around Raiola starting and playing against his former team in the Cornhuskers, there’s a good chance that won’t be the reality, especially if Moore came back to play.
“This game — of course, it’s going to be an emotional game for Dylan, being the place he came from. He’s going to do everything he can to make sure our team is in the best situation to have success this week and be prepared. … I know he’ll do that because he’s a pro,” Lanning said Monday, per Pete Nakos.
It remains to be seen what the quarterback situation looks like Saturday for the Oregon football program against Nebraska.
