Ryan Day and the No. 1 Ohio State Buckeyes kept their perfect 2025 college football season intact, jumping to 8-0 overall and 5-0 in Big Ten play after a 38-14 win over the Penn State Nittany Lions in Week 10. Sophomore quarterback Julian Sayin could do no wrong, completing 20-of-23 passes for 316 yards and four touchdowns.
While Day and Ohio State continue their national championship defense this year, the program is also keeping an eye on its future. With 22 commitments in the 2026 class, including ten four-star prospects, the Buckeyes held a top-10 national ranking, according to 247Sports. However, one of those recruits is now having second thoughts, dropping that number to 21.
Aaron Thomas, a 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive tackle out of Mountain Pointe High School (Phoenix), is a three-star prospect in the class of 2026 (247Sports). He ranks as the 506th best recruit in his class, along with the 46th best offensive tackle and eighth from the state of Arizona.
After taking his official visit with Ryan Day and Ohio State in May, Thomas committed to the Buckeyes the following month. However, on Monday, he announced his decision to decommit from the program. Thomas currently holds 31 offers and notably visited Florida State in early October.
“BREAKING: Class of 2026 OT Aaron Thomas has Decommitted from Ohio State, he tells me for @rivals,” Rivals’ Hayes Fawcett wrote on X. “The 6’6 305 OT from Phoenix, AZ has been Committed to the Buckeyes since June He currently holds 31 Offers.”
