Brock Thomas reportedly to start for Oregon with Moore injured, Raiola struggles

Oregon's College Football Playoff hopes took a massive hit last week with a loss to UCLA.

It was a loss that dropped Dan Lanning's squad down to No. 25 in the US LBM Coaches Poll and handed the Ducks their second loss before November for the first time under Lanning. It also put Oregon's quarterback situation under the microscope, as backup Dylan Raiola struggled in his first start with Dante Moore sidelined before being benched in favor of Brock Thomas late in the game.

The Ducks — working with a small margin of error — have a chance to get back on track in Week 7 when they host Nebraska at Autzen Stadium for an 11 p.m. ET kickoff. But who will be under center against the Cornhuskers remains a question heading into the matchup.

Here's what to know:

Who will start at quarterback for Oregon vs Nebraska?

Oregon is yet to name an official starter for Saturday, Oct. 17's game, but Pete Thamel reported on "College GameDay" Brock Thomas will get the nod against Nebraska. Dante Moore is ruled out with a concussion, while Brock Thomas and Dylan Raiola have jockeyed for the starting job. Raiola, who thrived against USC coming in for the injured Moore, struggled mightily last week against UCLA before being pulled in favor of Thomas.

Thomas has completed 14 of 20 passes for 172 yards and a touchdown this year, and he went 11-of-15 for 156 of those yards and a touchdown against the Bruins.

Akili Smith Jr. also sits on the roster, but there is no indication Oregon is going to turn to its upstart QB just yet. Thamel did mention, however, that Smith may see the field in some specialized packages.
