LSU football took care of business amid a chaotic Week 7 of college football. Head coach Lane Kiffin and his team shut out Mississippi State 31-0 in Baton Rouge to improve to 5-2 overall.

LSU is No. 18 in the latest AP Top 25, released Sunday. The Tigers moved up four spots after the win over the Bulldogs and are the sixth-highest-ranked SEC team in the poll. Texas, after losing to unranked Florida, dropped 12 spots to No. 19. The Gators re-entered the top 25 at No. 20.

Georgia fell from the top spot to No. 5 after losing to unranked Auburn, which received 61 votes after the upset. Ole Miss moved up two spots to No. 7, while Tennessee and Kentucky each rose three spots to Nos. 11 and 12, respectively. The Volunteers defeated Alabama, which fell seven spots to No. 13.

LSU travels to Auburn on Saturday, then hosts the Crimson Tide and the Longhorns to open November. The purple and gold travel to Knoxville in Week 12 to play Tennessee.
