Florida State Seminoles quarterback Ashton Daniels has been named ACC Quarterback of the Week for the second time this season.

Daniels had five touchdowns against the No. 1 team in America, the 6-0 Miami Hurricanes in their week eight matchup..

His five rushing touchdown performance against the Virginia Cavaliers earned him the same honor earlier this season.

Against Miami, he won the award in a 43-35 loss, against Virginia he won it in a 38-7 win.

Daniels had a gutsy performance against the Hurricanes in Miami. He went 15-for-28 for 298 yards passing, not including 9 rushes for 31 yards.

He led his team into double overtime with clutch touchdown passes to Duce Robinson in the fourth quarter, then in the first overtime.

Daniels 23 touchdowns accounted for ranks in the top three nationally.

He’s the only player in the country with at least 11 touchdowns both passing and rushing. He’s also the only player with 70 yard touchdowns in the passing and rushing game in 2026.

The fifth year quarterback came to Mike Norvell's team after spending 2025 with the Auburn Tigers.

Prior to that, the athletic quarterback spent three seasons (2022-2024), with the Stanford Cardinal.

Daniels was part of a 23 person transfer portal class brought in by Norvell in the 2026 offseason. It was Norvell's attempt to makeover this roster in what Norvell hoped could be a last ditch effort to save his job.

The national media has had no mercy on Norvell who is 3-4 on the season and 1-3 in the conference. The questions around Norvell’s firing seem to be centered around his huge buy out.

Norvell came into this season with seven wins over the last two years.

In five years Daniels has 6,401 yards passing with 36 touchdowns. He also has rushed for over 1,700 yards including 22 touchdowns on the ground.

While at Stanford, Daniels set the quarterback single season rushing record with 669 rush yards.

The frustrating part of this season is the inconsistency the Noles have shown. In week seven they went toe-to-toe with the best team in the country, but struggled against the unranked Louisville Cardinals, then got blown out against No. 10 Alabama Crimson Tide (FSU beat Alabama in 2025).

Florida State has a bye in week eight, then will host the 4-2 Clemson Tigers at the Doak October 31.

The Tigers are a longtime ACC rival for Florida State. A win against head coach Dabo Swiney will help calm the waters for Norvell, for a few days at least.
