Texas Football's Steve Sarkisian named Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week

Following the Longhorns' biggest win of the season, head coach Steve Sarkisian is adding to his trophy case. On Monday, Sarkisian was named the Dodd Trophy Coach of the Week. Each week, the award is given to the coach who led their team to a significant win while displaying scholarship, leadership, and integrity.

Entering play on Friday, Texas A&M was undefeated and ranked as the third-best team in the country. However, that all changed when they played a Sarkisian-led Longhorns team desperate for a win to keep their slim playoff hopes alive. After a slow start, Texas came to life in the second half, scoring on four of its first five possessions. That helped the Longhorns etch their name into the record books, becoming the first team with three AP Top 10 victories in a regular season since the 2019 LSU Tigers.

The Longhorns were led by Arch Manning, who recorded 232 yards of total offense while finding the end zone twice. He also got some help from Quintrevion Wisner, who recorded a season-high 155 rushing yards on 19 attempts. Due to the Longhorns duo's play, Texas stunned the college football world. 

While Sarkisian has put together a talented group, he has also made an impact in the community. The Longhorns' head coach has been involved with organizations such as The Kindness Campaign, the UGLI Foundation, Runway of Dreams, Dress for Success, and other causes. That is one quality that sets him apart. 

Following Texas' latest win, Steve Sarkisian has a 47-20 record as the Longhorns head coach. That record should only continue to improve with a star-studded 2026 class. On Friday, Sarkisian provided a reminder of why he is one of the best in the nation and why the future is bright in Austin.
