Just ahead of Signing Day, Iowa bolstered its 2026 recruiting class.
The Hawkeyes flipped former Wisconsin tight end commit Jack Janda. Initially projected to the offensive side of the football, the Detroit Catholic Central product announced his commitment to Iowa as a defensive lineman.
A 6-foot-6, 250-pound prospect, Janda registered 46 tackles, 17 tackles for loss and 11 sacks as a senior. Janda also caught eight passes for 159 yards and two scores last season with Detroit Catholic Central as the team authored a perfect 14-0 season to capture a Division I state championship.
Viewed as a three-star prospect by both 247Sports and Rivals, Janda joins Sawyer Jezierski as one of the Hawkeyes' two scholarship defensive line commits in the 2026 cycle. Iowa also has a commitment from Cedar Rapids Prairie defensive lineman David Fason, who is joining the program as a preferred walk-on.
