OXFORD — Ole Miss football is suddenly going through the early signing period with a new coach.
Former Ole Miss defensive coordinator Pete Golding was elevated to the permanent head coach on Nov. 30 after Lane Kiffin left for LSU.
The early signing period begins Dec. 3. It’s the first chance for Golding to lock down recruits in the 2026 class as Ole Miss embarks on a new era.

Ole Miss football recruiting targets
Ole Miss may get some last-second additions to the class.
Micah Nickerson is a player the Rebels are aiming to flip on Dec. 3. He is a four-star edge rusher from Magnolia who is the No. 13 player in Mississippi, according to the 247Sports Composite. Nickerson is currently committed to Missouri.
The Rebels have already gotten into some recruiting battles with Kiffin and LSU.
JC Anderson, a four-star tight end, and three-star offensive lineman Ryan Miret flipped from Ole Miss to LSU after Kiffin’s departure, per Rivals.
The Rebels got one player from LSU when Kervin Johnson Jr., a three-star receiver from Tioga, Louisiana, flipped from LSU to Ole Miss on Dec. 2, according to Rivals.

Entering the early signing period, Ole Miss 2026 recruiting class ranked No. 26 nationally in the 247Sports Composite and No. 10 in the SEC.
When is early signing day? Transfer portal and late signing day?
High school players who wish to sign during the early period can do so Dec. 3-5.
The late signing period for starts Feb. 5. Most players sign in the early signing period.
The other big window for teams to be transformed is the transfer portal. That opens Jan. 2.
