Offensive lineman, legacy recruit Mike Ionata signs with Florida State

Another legacy prospect has officially signed with Florida State.

Michael Ionata is a 6-foot-6, 300-pound offensive lineman who plays for Cavalry Christian in Clearwater, Florida. Prior to committing to the Seminoles on March 22, 2025, he received interest from North Carolina, Kentucky, and USF.

Ionata is considered the 1,641st best player in the nation by 247Composite rankings (128th best OL, 176th best in FL). He was last evaluated in late September but profiles as a developmental tackle prospect. He primarily played left tackle for his high school.

Michael’s brother, Joseph, plays for the Alabama Crimson Tide. Michael’s father, Joey Ionata, played under Bobby Bowden in the late 1980s and earned an All-American honorable mention in 1988. Seminole fans hope that Michael will be able to match or exceed his father’s legacy in garnet and gold.

From his official Florida State bio:

Three-star offensive lineman from Calvary Christian High School in Clearwater…No. 99 interior offensive lineman nationally by Rivals…No. 123 interior offensive line prospect by ESPN…led Calvary Christian to 8-4 record and second round of 2A state playoffs as senior…Warriors averaged 7.1 yards per carry in 2025 with 36 rushing touchdowns…dad Joey was Florida State All-American and brother Joseph is offensive lineman at Alabama…chose Florida State over offers from North Carolina, West Virginia and Kentucky.
