Linebacker Karon Maycock signs with Seminoles

The Seminoles have inked another prospect from South Florida.

Karon Maycock is a 6’1”, 200-pound athlete from Miami Central High School. 247Sports Composite has Maycock ranked as a three-star prospect and the 716th best player in the nation (61st best LB and 83rd best player in FL). Other schools recruited him as a safety while FSU views him as a linebacker.

Florida State held off a late charge by the Texas Longhorns, who tried hard to flip Maycock into their class. FSU originally beat out the Alabama Crimson Tide, Arizona State Sun Devils, Florida Gators, Indiana Hoosiers, Louisville Cardinals, Miami Hurricanes, Missouri Tigers, Nebraska Cornhuskers, Oklahoma Sooners, Ole Miss Rebels, Penn State Nittany Lions, SMU Mustangs, and Texas A&M Aggies, among others, for Maycock’s verbal pledge back on February 20, 2025.

Maycock was limited to seven games this season but managed 35 tackles (six for loss), two sacks, an interception, a blocked punt, a forced fumble, and a fumble recovery. In eight games last season, Maycock totaled 62 tackles (17 for loss), three sacks, three pass breakups, and two forced fumbles. He quickly became a top target for FSU after performing well at the Elite Camp back in June 2024.
