UCLA commit flips to Tennessee football during early signing period

2026 four-star defensive end Carter Gooden flipped his commitment from UCLA to Tennessee on Wednesday during the early signing period.
The 6-foot-4, 260-pound prospect is from Tabor Academy in Marion, Massachusetts. 247Sports ranks him as the No. 13 defensive end in the class and No. 1 player in Massachusetts.
Tennessee offered Gooden a scholarship on Oct. 16. He officially visited Tennessee for the Vols’ game versus Vanderbilt on Nov. 29.
UCLA offered Gooden a scholarship on April 12. He officially visited UCLA on May 9 before announcing his commitment to the Bruins on July 10.
Boston College was the first school to offer Gooden a scholarship on May 14, 2024. Other schools to offer him scholarships include Kentucky, Michigan State, West Virginia, Oklahoma State, Rutgers, North Carolina, Penn State, Minnesota, Arizona State, Virginia, Georgia Tech, Kansas State, Miami, Washington and Vanderbilt.
