The Oregon Ducks have been incredibly good at recruiting in the defensive secondary over the past few years, and that’s continuing in the 2026 class, highlighted by the addition of 4-star DB Davon Benjamin. They had to fight hard for him down the stretch, but ultimately, Benjamin hung with the Ducks, and he now has a chance to come in and make an immediate impact.

Oregon’s corner unit has been really good, and it seems as if it just got better with the addition of four-star recruit Davon Benjamin out of Westlake Village, Calif. At nearly 6-foot and 180 pounds, Benjamin was highly sought out. He turned down schools such as Washington, Texas and Michigan in order to become an Oregon Duck.

Davon Benjamin Position Outlook

Even with Benjamin’s talents, it’s going to be difficult to break through and see a lot of playing time in 2026 due to the incredible depth at the position. But in the coming years, Benjamin could very well be a top corner that you just leave on an island and let him do his thing. He could also see some time at safety or nickel, but it depends on how the roster shapes out in the coming seasons.

Oregon Cornerback Depth Chart

Benjamin might have to wait his turn as the corner position is loaded. Ify Obidegwu seems to have shored up one side of the field, and Brandon Finney, Jr. has the other side for the next two seasons. Daylen Austin and Na’eem Offord have seen time at the corner position as well. The battle in spring practice and in the fall for the starting corner position is going to be a fun one to keep track of in the next few years.

Oregon 2026 Class Outlook

Going into the Early Signing Period, the Ducks are expected to sign a fourth-straight top-10 class, and there’s a good chance that they ink another top-5 class, challenging for the best signing class in program history yet again under Dan Lanning. While Oregon may not have the size of class that we’ve seen in the past, pushing 30 recruits, it does rank as the best in the nation when it comes to the average rating of recruits. The Ducks focused on quality over quantity this cycle, and they’re bringing in a handful of the best players in the nation as members of the 2026 class.
