The Wolverines’ latest commitment has officially signed his letter of intent, as four-star cornerback Jamarion Vincent is officially locked in with Michigan Football.
The basics
- Height: 6-foot-2
- Weight: 165 pounds
- Hometown: Waco, Texas
- Ranking (247 composite): No. 168 overall, No. 20 CB, No. 21 Texas
Recruiting Journey
Vincent made an early commitment to the Baylor Bears all the way back in January. However, LaMar Morgan got Michigan into the mix by offering him a scholarship just a few months ago. Vincent took two trips to Michigan over the last couple months — including for The Game just last week — and sealed the deal with the flip just one day later.
Scouting Report
From 247Sports’ Gabe Brooks: “Lean, sinewy athlete with explosive playmaking in pads and on the hardwood. Quite narrow, but compensates with excellent height and length. Produced encouraging testing numbers and track and field data in Spring 2025 to lend valuable context to athleticism. Plays fast and does not appear deficient in top-end speed on the gridiron. Junior campaign showed improved acceleration and long speed vs. sophomore season. Extensive in-season snaps at quarterback. Three-phaser with impressive production on both sides of the ball. Needs to add some mass to bolster tackling ability and man coverage potential against larger pass catchers. Still developing technically, but assembled a terrific live evaluation at the Under Armour Dallas event in Feb. 2025, showcasing functional athleticism and position-specific instincts. Projects to the high-major level as a potential impact player with long-term pro upside.”
Expectations
There are a couple decisions to be made from current players in Jyaire Hill and Zeke Berry. If one or both of those guys end up declaring for the 2026 NFL Draft, there will be spots available in Michigan’s secondary next fall. If not, I would anticipate Vincent and the other freshmen defensive backs taking a redshirt year with how crowded the room would be at that point.
But if Berry and/or Hill do leave, guys like Jayden Sanders, Elijah Dotson and Shamari Earls would very likely be the ones competing for those positions. But Vincent, however, could make some noise. When Berry went down with an injury early in 2025, Sanders made a surprise leap into the starting role and played very well for a true freshman. While those things aren’t ever anticipated to occur, perhaps Vincent could have a Sanders-like first year in college and get his feet wet before having a shot at a starting role in 2027.
