Londonderry resident Devin Boles was among nine players who signed a commitment this week to join the University of New Hampshire football team next year.

Boles, a 6-foot-3, 240-pound defensive end, played a post-graduate season at Phillips Exeter Academy this fall. He previously played at Londonderry High School.

During his high school career, Boles recorded 25 tackles for loss and 14½ sacks.

At Londonderry High, Boles played both defensive end and linebacker on defense and tight end on offense.

UNH made a scholarship offer to Boles while he was a senior at Londonderry High.

"Devin is one of the most complete defensive players in New England," UNH coach Rick Santos said in a statement. "He's explosive off the edge and plays with a physicality that fits perfectly with how we want to play defense. … We believe Devin has the potential to become a dominant force on our defensive front, and we're thrilled to keep another elite in-state player home in New Hampshire."

Londonderry High football coach and athletic director Jimmy Lauzon told the Union Leader earlier this year that Boles would be a great fit for the UNH defense.

"All the years I've watched UNH football, I feel like Devin Boles is the blue-collar, hard-nosed football player that they typically have and have built their football program on," Lauzon said.

UNH's other incoming freshman signees are defensive tackle Elijah Burnley (Cheltenham, Pennsylvania), running back/linebacker Brooks Connors (Easthampton, Mass.), defensive back Josh Cruz (Rahway, New Jersey), wide receiver Trey Grant (New Bedford, Mass.), tight end Joey Johnson (Ashburn, Virginia), defensive end Travis Parsons, (West Hartford, Connecticut), quarterback Kaden Silton (Westford, Mass.) and running back Ty'Meere Wilkerson (Berwick, Pennsylvania).

QB Bentley will enter portal

UNH backup quarterback Brooks Bentley announced on social media on Tuesday that he will be entering the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.

Bentley, a junior, transferred to UNH this year after two seasons at Division II Wingate University. Bentley, who competed with sophomore Matt Vezza for the starting quarterback job in training camp, did not appear in a game for the Wildcats this fall.

UNH went 8-5 overall and lost 41-3 in the first round of the Division I FCS playoffs at South Dakota State last Saturday.
