Alabama Football Recruiting 2026: National Signing Day Recap
Where does the Tide sit in the recruiting rankings with Signing Day now behind us?

Gone are the days of Signing Day shenanigans and intrigue. Outside of a few fringe cases (mostly laughing at Penn State this year), the Signing Days have been mostly devoid of drama the last few years. I think there are a few reasons:

  • Early Signing Day is now right after the regular season. There’s still so much football going on, so it doesn’t have as much fan attention as when we’re all starved for football in February.
  • Kids get plenty of attention with social media for years leading up to their senior year anyway, they aren’t quite as crazy about trying to stir up drama as the kids a decade ago were.
  • But the biggest thing, I think, is that everyone now enrolls early. It’s one thing to goof around with where you’ll be going 5 months before you go… But most of these kids will now be in Tuscaloosa in less than four weeks. At that point, you pretty much have made up your mind.

In any case, it doesn’t much matter, I guess.

Alabama went out and signed 20 players today. It’s a fairly small class that ranks 4th in the country per 247Sports, behind USC, Oregon, and Notre Dame. However, all of those schools took bigger classes. The Tide is actually the top rated class in terms of a per-recruit average rating. They’re also tied with Oregon and Notre Dame with four 5-star commits. Interestingly, two of Oregon’s 5-star commits did not sign, though that is supposed to happen shortly.

If you want the list of players, check out the link from earlier today:

As far as numbers go, here’s how the class stacks up:

QB – 2

RB – 1

WR – 1

TE – 1

OL – 4 (2 interior, 2 tackles)

DL/Edge – 5

LB – 2 (I’m counting Xavier Griffin here, even though he’s listed at edge)

CB – 2

S – 2

Roster construction is different these days. Many seniors get extra years of eligibility for whatever reason, guys transfer in and out, and, of course, there’s no 85-man scholarship limit anymore. Still, with a quick scan of things for next year, you’d think that Coach DeBoer and crew would probably like to add another linebacker, offensive lineman, and a corner at minimum between now and February. On top of that, all of the defensive linemen are more in the Bandit/DE size, so they’d probably like to add a nose tackle, even though they do currently have a good bit of young returning depth. Wide receiver and running back could use one more depth body as well.

Still, all indications are that the staff was targeting a smaller class this time around, so there likely isn’t much more in the pipeline as they move their sights to the Portal, where there will be likely plenty of activity as some Alabama players move on the Tide looks to fill a lot of holes.

For now, though, enjoy the fact that the Tide took a trio of running back, receiver, and tight end, who all may very well be best-in-the-country level players on offense, plus added a linebacker and a safety who look like future superstars.

Seriously, enjoy this:
