On Wednesday night, the Alabama Crimson Tide were back in action for the first time since the Players Era Festival, doing so at home against the Clemson Tigers in the ACC/SEC Challenge.
A challenging nonconference opponent, Clemson came into Wednesday night's game unranked at 7-1 overall, and when all was said and done, certainly gave Alabama a very tough game inside Coleman Coliseum.
In what was a 90-84 win for the Crimson Tide, Alabama originally jumped out to an early lead against the Tigers, eventually carrying a commanding 45-30 lead into halftime. However, that lead would be erased within the first 10 minutes of the second half, and Clemson even gained the lead before Alabama pulled away late for the victory.
Leading the way for Alabama was Labaron Philon Jr. with 29 points, while freshman Amari Allen posted a double-double at 20 points and 11 rebounds. Alabama also shot a combined 47% from the field, as well as 35% from three, and saw the season debut of transfer guard Jalil Bethea, who finished with two points, three rebounds, and two assists in six minutes of action.
