When the Big 12 Conference released its preseason all-conference team in July, Arizona was noticeably absent. Now that all the league games have been played, the record has been set straight.

Quarterback Noah Fifita and defensive backs Dalton Johnson and Treydan Stukes have been named to the Big 12’s all-conference First Team. The three First Team selections are the most for the Wildcats since 2008, when four made the Pac-12’s First Team, and Fifita is Arizona’s first First Team all-conference QB since Bruce Hill in 1975.

The two First Team defensive selections are the most since 2007. All told, the UA had 15 players recognized by the league after going 9-3 overall and 6-3 in Big 12 play, tying for third place.

Wide receiver Kris Hutson, linebacker Taye Brown and defensive backs Jay’Vion Cole and Genesis Smith were Third Team selections, while seven players received Honorable Mention nods: running back Ismail Mahdi, receivers Tre Spivey and Nunu Whatley, offensive lineman Ty Buchanan, defensive linemen Deshawn McKnight and Tia Savea and linebacker Max Harris.

Fifita was an Honorable Mention for Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year, which went to BYU running back LJ Martin, and Brent Brennan earned the same distinction for Coach of the Year that went to BYU’s Kalani Sitake. Cole was an Honorable Mention for Defensive Newcomer of the Year and defensive lineman Mays Pese an Honorable Mention for Defensive Freshman of the Year.
