Clark Lea of Vanderbilt is a finalist for the Walter Camp Award, given to the top coach in college football as decided by the Walter Camp Football Foundation.
Indiana’s Curt Cignetti and Ohio State’s Ryan Day were also named finalists on Dec. 4.
Under Lea, Vanderbilt achieved its first 10-win season in program history, closing the regular season at 10-2, ranked No. 14 in the penultimate College Football Playoff rankings. The Commodores finished 6-2 in SEC play, its winningest in-conference campaign since 1933.
Lea and Vanderbilt achieved the 10-win mark with a 45-24 win over Tennessee in the regular season finale on Nov. 29, its first win over the Volunteers since 2018.
The Walter Camp Award winner will be announced on Dec. 10.
Lea was also named as one of 23 semifinalists for the George Munger College Coach of the Year, awarded by the Maxwell Football Club.
He is a native of Nashville and attended Montgomery Bell Academy before later playing collegiately for two seasons at Vanderbilt. Lea was hired in December 2020 to replace Derek Mason and has a 26-35 record in his tenure, pushing Vanderbilt to back-to-back winning seasons for the first time since 2012 and 2013.
