Both defenses stood tall in the first quarter as Fairhaven forced Norwell to punt on its first possession and then stopped the Clippers on fourth-and-goal from the 8. Norwell forced Fairhaven to punt on its first drive, but the Blue Devils are marching down the field to start the second quarter.

Norwell Football Super Bowl history

This is Norwell’s fifth Super Bowl appearance and first since 1999. The Clippers lost in the state quarterfinals in 2023 and reached the state semifinals a year ago. Norwell is going for its third Super Bowl title and first since 1998.

Fairhaven Football Super Bowl history

This is Fairhaven’s sixth trip to the Super Bowl and third straight. The Blue Devils are going for their fifth championship after winning it in 2023, 2000, 1994 and 1991. All four came with an Almeida as the head coach – Dana Almeida for the first three and his son, Derek Almeida, for the last one.

A year ago, the Blue Devils lost to Hudson by a touchdown. 

Div. 6 Super Bowl highlighted by high-powered offenses

The MIAA Div. 6 Super Bowl between Fairhaven and Norwell features a pair of high-scoring offenses.

Running the triple-option, the Blue Devils are averaging 40.7 points per game with a balanced offensive attack out of the backfield.

Senior running back Grant Darmofal has scored a team-high 19 touchdowns while senior Aaron Lague had found the end zone 18 times and rushed for more than 1,400 yards. Senior Ian Alexion has scored 14 touchdowns.

In his first year as the starting quarterback, senior Evan Lamontagne has thrown for more than 700 yards and 12 TDs while rushing for 6 more scores and more than 500 yards.

Running a spread offense, Norwell is averaging over 30 points per game.

A three-year starter, Norwell junior quarterback Jack Luccarelli has 2,130 rushing yards and 30 touchdowns this year. He’s also thrown for 810 yards and another 6 scores. 

But Luccarelli isn’t the Clippers’ only threat.

Junior running back Colin Gerhart has 810 rushing yards and 9 touchdowns while sophomore running back Charlie Hajjar has 550 yards on the ground and 4 TDs. Senior wide receiver Matthew Panttila has 405 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns catches.
