Colorado football lands its first class of 2027 commitment

Colorado football received a commitment from a 2027 four-star athlete, Alexander Ward, on Tuesday morning.
Ward, originally committed to Alabama, was offered only by Deion Sanders and the Buffs in late August and held 14 offers at the time.
Perhaps helping the Buffs’ cause was that Ward’s brother Christian, a class of 2026 recruit, committed to Colorado in late September.
247Sports ranks Ward, a native of Georgia but an IMG Academy (FL.) product, as the No. 14 athlete and the No. 27 player from the state of Florida.

Similar to former Colorado star and 2024 Heisman Trophy winner Travis Hunter, Ward has aspirations to play both ways in college (defensive back and wide receiver), which perhaps puts the Buffaloes at the top of the list, as Sanders is known for allowing his players to do just that.
Ward’s commitment is the first in the class of 2027, marking an excellent start for the class and landing a blue-chip prospect.
