Georgia's one loss this season was to Alabama in Athens, Ga.
In the SEC Championship Game rematch, it was all Bulldogs from the jump.
At Mercedes-Benz Stadium, Georgia dominated the Crimson Tide 28-7 to win their second straight SEC championship game. The Bulldogs' defense limited Alabama to 209 total yards.
Georgia is now 2-7 against Alabama under coach Kirby Smart, with the first win coming in the National Championship in 2021. With the win, Georgia essentially clinches a top-four seed and a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff.
Here's where the Bulldogs lie after a dominant conference championship win.

Is Georgia in the College Football Playoff?
Yes. Georgia will make the College Football Playoff for the fifth time under Smart. The Bulldogs came in to the weekend as the No. 3 seed in the most recent Playoff bracket, and can expect to stay in the top-three after the win.

Georgia playoff scenarios
Here is a look at how Georgia's College Football Playoff seeding could be impacted by the SEC championship game Saturday:
Georgia beats Alabama in SEC championship game
The Bulldogs will more than likely be the No. 2 seed in Sunday's rankings after winning the championship. Indiana beat Ohio State 13-10 in the Big Ten championship game. The Hoosiers likely will jump to No. 1. The Buckeyes will fall behind Georgia.
The Bulldogs' first CFP game would be in the quarterfinals at the Sugar Bowl.
In the CFP era, the SEC champion has been ranked lower than No. 2 just two times. One-loss Georgia was the No. 3 seed after winning the SEC championship in 2017. One-loss Alabama was the No. 4 seed in 2023.
Do the Bulldogs have a case for the No. 1 seed at this point? It's a topic of conversation with Indiana. Georgia would have five victories against ranked teams if it beats Alabama in the SEC championship game. We still think the Bulldogs would be No. 2.
