Days before National Signing Day, St. Thomas More football’s Cole Bergeron announced he was decommiting from Virginia Tech. Now, the four-star quarterback has locked in where he’ll take his talents, signing his national letter of intent Friday, Dec. 5, to play for Georgia Tech.
Listed at 6-foot-4 and 210 pounds, Bergeron was the backbone of the Cougars’ offense in his senior campaign — leading them to the second round of the LHSAA Select Division I playoffs. He marks the third four-star prospect to become a part of the Yellowjackets’ 2026 signing class and is their lone quarterback, so far.
His big frame and strong arm helped lead the Cougars to many comeback victories throughout the 2025 season, helping him boost his rating from a three-star to a four-star prospect this year. Bergeron is currently ranked the No. 20 quarterback in the nation and is the No. 12 rated player in the boot state within his class.
He ended the 2025 season throwing for 2,561 yards, 29 touchdowns and 10 interceptions, finishing the regular season as the second leading passer in the South Central Louisiana area. In his junior season, he was also a crucial piece of STM’s semifinals run in the playoffs, where it was a game shy of making it to the Superdome.
Bergeron chose the Yellowjackets over Minnesota, San Diego State, Florida Atlantic, Colorado, Georgia Tech, UCLA, Arkansas State, Georgia Southern, Louisiana, Indiana and Virginia Tech. Georgia Tech finished the 2025 college football season ranked No. 22 and with a 9-3 overall record and is currently awaiting its bowl game selection.
