The last few days have been filled with a number of significant recruiting wins for head coach Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks program. After all, they reeled in the second-best 2026 class, with five 5-stars signing on.
But one more domino still stood that had the potential to put Oregon over the USC Trojans and claim the No. 1 recruiting class for the first time ever.
That domino was 5-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr., a longtime Ohio State Buckeyes commit who didn’t immediately sign with the program. Instead, he bided his time, leading to speculation that he may be teetering on a flip to Lanning and the Ducks.
But on the Pat McAfee Show on Friday morning, Henry announced that he was staying committed to Ohio State and would soon be a Buckeye. He explained his decision in a phone call with 247 Sports’ Tom Loy.
“I knew in my heart it was (Ohio State). I spent the last few days talking with my family, I received a lot of offers, I’m not going to lie, but in the end, I was most comfortable at Ohio State and that’s where I wanted to be.”

All the hope that Oregon fans had for Henry’s potential flip was crushed, putting into question his true intentions with delaying his signing.
Regardless, Henry now goes from a potentially beloved figure among Duck fans to going to a Big Ten opponent and budding rival in the Buckeyes.
