Roll Tide Wire's X factors for SEC Championship Game vs. Georgia

Alabama will play Georgia for the SEC Championship on Saturday at 4 p.m. ET on ABC from Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta, Georgia.

Alabama is a slight underdog going into the game. Georgia has a previous loss to build on and get their revenge from. Alabama will need to take care of the football and win the time of possession to win the game. The Bulldogs will be hungry and will give a great effort.

Below are a list of Roll Tide Wire’s X factors for the 2025 SEC Championship Game.

Georgia lost last time

Georgia lost the previous game, which bodes well for the Bulldogs. Being on the losing end of a game allows you to adjust to the mistakes made on the previous game. Georgia should also have the psychological motivation to get the revenge on Alabama. At the time, Ty Simpson was lighting the world on fire and looked unstoppable. At this point, there are more ways to make Simpson uncomfortable. I believe that Georgia having lost the first game, and going back to the drawing board, will favor the Bulldogs.

Can Alabama establish the run?

Will Alabama be able to establish the run against Georgia’s elite run defense? Will Jam Miller have a similar performance that he had against Auburn if he is able to go? Alabama needs to be able to run the football effectively to beat Georgia. I do not think that Ryan Grubb’s play calling and Ty Simpson’s game management will be enough to beat the Bulldogs.

Alabama has to be able to effectively run the football to go to toe-to-toe with Georgia. Georgia will be more prepared in this game and Alabama will have to match their physicality to be successful.

Alabama’s kicking game

Conor Talty will have to make at-least most of his field goals in this game. The stout Georgia defense won’t let Alabama go up-and-down the field. So, Talty will have to make enough kicks for them to win. If Conor misses more than one kick, I don’t think Alabama will win. They will need to capitalize on these opportunities to beat Georgia. I believe to win the game, Alabama will have to be very efficient, dynamic, and run the football well.
