CHATTANOOGA — Westview quarterback Graham Simpson had himself a historic first half in his second TSSAA football playoffs state championship game.

The sophomore connected with senior wideout Donteze Joy on a 99-yard touchdown in the second quarter to set a new TSSAA BlueCross Bowl championship game record for the longest touchdown, a record that had stood since 2011. With the big play, Simpson had thrown his fourth touchdown of 60 or more yards in the game in the Class 3A state final Friday, Dec. 5 at Finley Stadium.

Soon after, Simpson broke another championship game record by connecting with Asa Barnes for a 62-yard score that put him at 510 yards for the game, breaking the old state record of 476 yards by Charlie High of CAK in 2011.

He has seven TDs passes and a 26-yard rushing TD which ties High for most in a title game. Simpson already holds the state record for most passing yards in a game. He had 620 yards on Nov. 1 of 2024 against Covington.
