Penn State AD releases statement on hiring of Matt Campbell

Following reports of the coaching search coming to a close, Penn State athletics director Pat Kraft has provided a public comment to confirm the news. Kraft said in a statement released Friday evening that Matt Campbell has agreed to contract terms to become the next head coach of the Penn State program.

“I’m thrilled to share with the Penn State community that we have reached an agreement with Matt Campbell to have him serve as the 17th head football coach at Penn State,” Kraft siad in his released statement Kraft continued to say Campbell will be scheduled to be introduced aas the next head coach on Monday following the contract being formally approved by the Board of Trustees.

“Coach Campbell is, without a doubt, the right leader at the right time for Penn State Football,” Kraft said in his released statement. “He is a stellar coach with a proven track record of success and his values, character and approach to leading student-athletes to success on and off the field align perfectly with the traditions and values of Penn State.”

Kraft went on to thank Terry Smith for his assistance as the interim head coach during this time of transition. Kraft also confirmed in his statement that Smith will continue working with the program moving forward, as reported earlier.
