Former Vol leads Gatlinburg-Pittman to state title game

Former Vol Tyler Williams led Gatlinburg-Pittman High School (Gatlinburg, Tennessee) to its first state championship game appearance in program history on Friday.
The Highlanders, lost the TSSAA class 3A game to Westview High School (Martin, Tennessee), 62-21, at Finley Stadium in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Gatlinburg-Pittman entered the title game with an undefeated season and finished with a 13-1 record.
Gatlinburg-Pittman received a pregame pep talk from former Vols' head coach PhillipFulmer.
Westview's quarterback Graham Simpson, brother of Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, totaled 287 yards and three touchdowns in the first quarter.
He was named BlueCross Bowl MVP after completing 18-of-21 passing attempts for a record 566 yards and seven touchdowns. Simpson also rushed for 46 yards and one touchdown on three attempts.
Williams was an offensive lineman for the Vols from 2000-04 under Fulmer. He completed his second season as the Highlanders' head coach after being hired in 2024.
