JaCobian Morgan injury update: Jackson State QB will not return in SWAC Championship game

Jackson State football quarterback JaCobian Morgan will not return for the second half of the SWAC Championship game.
Morgan exited in the second quarter of the game against Prairie View A&M at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on Dec. 6. Morgan scored a 29-yard rushing touchdown at the 11:20 mark was seen limping on the sideline afterward before heading into the medical tent.
Freshman quarterback Jared Lockhart came in when JSU’s next drive started with 7:15 to play in the second quarter.
It was Morgan’s first start since he suffered a left foot injury against Grambling State on Oct. 25. He missed the last four games of the regular season.
At the time of his exit, Morgan was 2-for-6 passing with four yards and had 28 rushing yards and a touchdown on two carries.
Lockhart served as JSU’s starting quarterback in the four games that Morgan missed, completing 68.9% of his passes for 674 yards, five touchdowns and one interception, while rushing for 108 yards.
In JSU’s final two drives of the half, Lockhart went 1-for-2 for 15 passing yards with an interception and took a sack for minus-11 yards. Jackson State trails PVAMU 13-7 at the start of the third quarter.
The winner of this game will win the SWAC Championship and move on to play MEAC champion South Carolina State in the Cricket Celebration Bowl in Atlanta at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Dec. 13.
