For the second time in the Lincoln Riley era and the first time since 2022, the USC football team will be playing meaningful football in the month of November. A talented roster led by Jayden Maiava, Makai Lemon, Ja’Kobi Lane and resurgent offensive and defensive lines has USC off to a 6-2 start, and 3 of their 4 remaining games are at home against unranked teams.

For the time being, the Trojans can still reasonably compete for the No. 3 seed in the Big Ten and a likely College Football Playoff berth.

Trojan fans can get a first glimpse at just how much work USC has ahead of them to make the CFP on Tuesday when the first CFP rankings of the season are announced on Tuesday. USC is currently ranked No. 20 in the AP Poll, and they will likely rank at around that position in the CFP rankings as well, 8 spots out of the top 12 that will play for the National Championship.
