NORMAN — Oklahoma football will host Alabama in a College Football Playoff first-round game at Gaylord Family — Oklahoma Memorial Stadium.
The game will kick off at 7 p.m. on Dec. 19, on ABC and ESPN.
The Sooners-Crimson Tide winner will play No. 1 Indiana (13-0) in the quarterfinal in the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, on Jan. 1 (3 p.m., ESPN).
OU (10-2) was ranked No. 8 in the final College Football Playoff poll, which was released on Sunday.
Alabama (10-3) is ranked No. 9 in the CFP poll.
The Sooners defeated the Crimson Tide 23-21 on the road on Nov. 15.
OU is in the playoff for the fifth time but will make its first appearance in the 12-team format era.
The Sooners rebounded from losses to Texas and Ole Miss to finish the season with four consecutive victories — at Tennessee, at Alabama, vs. Missouri and vs. LSU.
"I’d just love an invitation," OU coach Brent Venables said Nov. 29 when asked if his team deserved to host a playoff game. "I don’t care if it’s on the road. And I say I don’t care, of course I would love to be here, but I spend no time looking at that. … Wherever they ask us to play, we’ll show up.”
