Alabama football’sCollege Football Playoff fate has been secured.

Despite a 28-7 loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship Game Saturday, Dec. 6, Alabama was granted its first 12-team playoff appearance in the Kalen DeBoer era, putting the Crimson Tide at No. 9 with a first-round date against No. 8 Oklahoma

Alabama will play Oklahoma at Gaylord Family Oklahoma Memorial Stadium Dec. 19 or 20.

Alabama is one of five SEC teams to make the final set of CFP rankings along with No. 3 Georgia, No. 6 Ole Miss, No. 7 Texas A&M and No. 8 Oklahoma.

Here’s the final CFP bracket:

  • No. 1 Indiana vs No. 8 Oklahoma/No. 9 Alabama
  • No. 2 Ohio State vs. No. 7 Texas A&M/No. 10 Miami
  • No. 3 Georgia vs. No. 6 Ole Miss/No. 11 Tulane
  • No. 4 Texas Tech vs. No. 5 Oregon/No. 12 James Madison

Alabama football CFP history

No team has made the College Football Playoff more than Alabama.

Alabama has played in nine of the 12 editions of the CFP, missing the cut in 2019, 2022 and 2024. Clemson and Ohio State are tied for second with seven appearances.

Alabama has a 9-5 record in the College Football Playoff, winning six of its eight semifinal appearances and splitting its six CFP National Championship appearances.
