Deion Sanders Announces Julian Lewis Development on Tuesday

Colorado is coming off a second consecutive blowout loss on Saturday.

After losing 53-7 to Utah on Oct. 25, Colorado got blasted by Arizona on Saturday, 52-17. The game was virtually over at halftime when Colorado was down 38-7.

The loss dropped the Buffaloes to 3-6 overall, and they need to win their last three games if they want to become bowl eligible.

Kaidon Salter started on Saturday and was benched just before halftime. He completed 11-of-15 passes for 49 yards, a touchdown and an interception before Julian Lewis replaced him. Lewis came into the game and completed 9-of-17 passes for 121 yards, one touchdown and no interceptions.

Lewis suffered a hand injury during the game, but Buffaloes head coach Deion Sanders told reporters on Tuesday that it’s nothing to worry about. Lewis will start for the Buffaloes this Saturday against the West Virginia Mountaineers.

Lewis has only appeared in two games as a freshman this season, compiling 129 passing yards, one touchdown and no interceptions. He was part of the 2025 recruiting class and was the sixth-best quarterback recruit in the country, per 247Sports composite rankings. He was also the No. 50 overall recruit in the country.

Sanders is in his third season as the head coach of the Buffaloes and has compiled a 16-18 overall record. The Buffaloes will face the Mountaineers, Arizona State Sun Devils and Kansas State Wildcats to end the 2025 season.

Kickoff for Saturday’s contest between the Buffaloes and Mountaineers is scheduled for noon ET on TNT and HBO Max.
