Gators, FSU, or someone else? Who won Florida national signing day?

The early signing period has come to a close, and it's time to evaluate how all seven Division I programs in the Sunshine State performed during this cycle.

Miami signed the No. 1 class in the ACC, according to the 247Sports Composite rankings, after defending their class well, with a large gap over second-place Florida State.

Florida managed to hold on to its class as well, despite not having a head coach for weeks. The Gators signed 17 players and have the No. 7 class in the SEC.

USF also entered the coaching carousel and still came away with a majority of their class (though Alex Golesh did bring a few players with him to Auburn). The Brian Hartline hire has reignited an already fiery program and the Bulls' class currently ranks No. 3 in the AAC.

Here are the recruiting report cards for the Big 7 in Florida college football:

Miami

Quality: A

Quantity: A+ (30 signees)

Vibe: B+

Overall Grade: B +

Synopsis: This class didn't have any monster flips at the end of the year like Miami normally manages — but that's perfectly OK when you get a 5-star like OT Jackson Cantwell to commit in May and defend him until Signing Day. Eleven players from the USA TODAY Florida Top 100 signed in this cycle, including EDGE Asharri Charles (No. 10), CB Jaelen Waters (No. 12), LB Jordan Campbell (No. 16), and WR Somourian Wingo (No. 19). The 'Canes signed their entire class by 11 a.m., plus flipped LB Karsten Busch (St. Xavier, Kentucky) from Louisville on signing day.

Florida

Quality: A-

Quantity: B (17 signees)

Vibe: A

Overall Grade: B+

Synopsis: Florida lost just one commitment after firing Billy Napier, and this incoming class seems to be on board with John Sumrall. The Gators signed elite in-state recruits like they're supposed to, with names like CB CJ Bronaugh, DL Kendall Guervil, and QB Will Griffin highlighting a class with eight signees in the USA TODAY Florida Top 100.

Florida State

Quality: B

Quantity: A+

Vibe: C+

Overall Grade: B

Synopsis: When administration has to come out and promise not to fire your head coach, it doesn't bode well for the program. The 'Noles still signed elite players like Chauncey Kennon (No. 1 CB in the state) and Izayia Williams (No. 1 LB in the state), plus flipped Corbyn Fordham away from Ohio State. Still, there are more projects than a typical FSU class might otherwise take, headed into another season with a lot of question marks around the team.

South Florida

Ohio State Buckeyes offensive coordinator Brian Hartline laughs after hearing jeers as he walks onto the field prior to the NCAA football game against the Michigan Wolverines at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, Mich. on Nov. 29, 2025.

Quality: B

Quantity: B (17 signees)

Vibe: A

Overall Grade: B+

Synopsis: This class has some real hidden gems in it that Alex Golesh recruited like Gabe LeGrand and Derrick Nichols III, plus some of the bigger names from elite programs like Lakeland (LB/S CJ Cresser) and IMG (CB Amari Jones.) And now after making one of the best hires of the cycle in Brian Hartline, the trajectory of this program remains pointed upward.

Central Florida

Quality: C

Quantity: C (13 signees)

Vibe: C-

Overall Grade: C

Synopsis: Who jumps out at you in this class? There are some exciting swings on really good prep players like ATH Kaj Baker and RB Arthur Lewis IV, but the Knights otherwise did not do a great job in their home state for this cycle. This class is ranked 14th in the Big 12 by 247Sports with the same amount of defensive backs signed as quarterbacks.

Florida International

FIU quarterback Joe Pesansky (16) celebrates his touchdown against Middle Tennessee with FIU offensive lineman Julius Pierce (65) as FIU tight end Jackson Verdugo (88) looks on during the college football game at MTSU, on Saturday, Nov. 8, 2025.

Quality: C+

Quantity: A (21 signees)

Vibe: A

Overall Grade: B+

Synopsis: South Florida is a hotbed for football talent, and Willie Simmons has made it a point to recruit his home turf. And recruit it hard, at that. The class signed 15 players from the Sunshine State, nine of which are from South Florida. Headlined by players like RB Jayden Ford, ATH Jaeden McMillan, and EDGE Michael Smarts, Simmons and staff have done a good job of evaluating and landing talent in their backyard.

Florida Atlantic

Quality: C-

Quantity: C (12 signees)

Vibe: D

Overall Grade: C-

Synopsis: There is no "vibe" to this class at all. Nobody is talking about it. Zach Kittley landed a pair of explosive pass catchers in Nicsaint Joseph and Elijah West, but that is the majority of nationally-ranked in-state prospects that signed.
