The staff transition that has come with LSU’s hiring of new head coach Lane Kiffin has been somewhat bumpy, leading some commits to delay their signing-day decisions. That included LSU’s most coveted recruit, Lamar Brown. Brown is On3’s top-ranked player in the nation and ranks fourth for 247Sports.
Some feared Brown might flip to Texas A&M, as the Aggies pursued him heavily throughout this year’s recruiting cycle. Brown stayed loyal, however, deciding to stay in his home state and play for LSU.

One of Kiffin’s first priorities after getting the LSU job was ensuring Brown signed. LSU hosted the talented lineman on the same day Kiffin arrived in Baton Rouge, and judging by Brown’s decision, their meeting went well.
Brown starts at left tackle and along the defensive line at his high school, University Lab, but most expect him to stick to defense for the Tigers. His ability on that side of the ball won the game for his high school last weekend, advancing them to the next round of the Louisiana state playoffs, as seen below.

What's interesting about Brown's positional designation is that 247Sports appears to rate his potential on the offensive line higher than on the other side of the ball. They don't knock his potential as a defensive lineman by any means, though, highlighting his elite athleticism and power as reasons for his high ranking. Even if he needs some more development time to hit his ceiling on defense, Brown's athletic gifts give him an incredibly high floor.
Brown’s decision has the Tigers’ 2026 recruiting class ranked 13th in the country by 247Sports.
